Horner's Horn-Dogs victorious over Canary's Tweety Birds.

Horn-Dogs take game one of Cavalier World Series

The Eric Horner led Horn-Dogs triumphed over David Canary's Tweety Birds 10-6 in game one of the best-of-five Cavalier World Series on Monday afternoon.
The Horn-Dogs got the scoring going in the top of the first with two runs on a Tanner Funk lead off single, a hit batter (Nate Thomas) and a two RBI single to right by Sam Stucky.
The Tweety Birds reciprocated with two first run innings of their own on singles by David Drahozal, John Lenherr and Zach Smith's two-RBI single.
In the fourth the Horn Dogs struck for four runs, but Canary's Tweety Birds put up three runs, to make the score 6-5.
It was all Horn-Dogs from there as they tacked on three runs in the sixth and a run in the seventh.
The Tweety Birds mounted a minor rally in the bottom of the seventh, getting three hits and a run, before John Piper struck out to end the game.
Horner said the Horn-Dogs played well.
"Gil Rehwinkle was the MVP of our game, he came in and gave us three scoreless innings after we were one run game and let us get ahead," he said. "We put the ball in play and forced the other team to make plays."
Game two of the series resumes tomorrow, first pitch time is not yet known due to the possibility of rain.
