The Lady Tigers and Tigers of Cowley College were tamed by the Cavaliers and Lady Cavaliers on Tuesday night.
In the first game the Lady Cavaliers scored early and often. Caitlin Sutter, freshman forward scored four goals and led the Lady Cavs to a 9-1.
Jim Schwab, head coach said they played very well.
"Caitlin played very well up top, they made the proper runs and executed them. When you get up on any team early, it makes a big difference," he said.
Schwab said he hopes the team plays this well down the stretch.
In the second game the Cavaliers busted out of the gate as Chris Tunison, Alex Rathbun and Michael Shadfar scored in the game's first 13 minutes. Cowley countered with a goal in the 14th minute but Cortland Gibson netted a goal in the 43rd minute. With a 4-1 halftime lead Fatai Ayoade, head coach sent in a few substitutes to get some action. This plan almost backfired as Cowley scored two goals in a span of three minutes at the 55th and 58th minute to narrow the deficit to 4-3. Ayoade sent the regular troops back in and the Cavaliers never looked back, scoring six unanswered goals en route to a 10-3 win.
Ayoade said the team got off to a good start.
"I told the boys, they asked me what the record of Cowley was. I said 'I don't know, I don't care, what matters is this game here.' We cannot overlook anybody we just gotta come out and play. The first ten minutes we played well."
