The home team won both games on day one of their two day JCCC Challenge.
The Lady Cavs beat Lincoln Land Community College 14-25, 25-12, 25-18, 25-15.
The loss in the first set snapped their 18-set win streak. Jenny Ei, head coach, did not think the team started the first match with their heads in the game.
“They weren’t mentally prepared to come out and play,” she said. “I think they learned a valuable lesson.”
After the first set loss, the Lady Cavs got their game back, big time.
They beat Iowa Lakes Community College 25-13, 25-15, and 25-19.
Jordan Lockwood, freshman outside hitter, said their momentum started with better team play.
“We focused on communication and working together as a team,” she said.
The next batch of opponents will be played Sept. 20 at 10 a.m. and noon.
Lockwood believes her team is ready for the challenge.
“We have our goals and I think we’re going to get it done.”
