Ivy Morrison, sophomore does not have free time.

She is involved in not one, but two sports at the college. Morrison plays Middle Hitter/ Outer Hitter for the Lady Cavs volleyball team and plays Forward for the basketball team.

She said balancing school and athletics is a learning process. By the time practices are over, Morrison finds schoolwork to be even more of a challenge.

“I go home and try to study, but you’re tired by that time so you just want to eat and go to sleep,” she said.

Despite the challenge, she still finds ways to make it happen.
Morrison plans to attend Kansas State University after the 2008-2009 academic school year ends.

Morrison plans to explore the art field, potentially majoring in interior design. She is still undecided about playing any sports after this year, though intramurals are still in consideration.

“I just want to go to school for school,” Morrison said.

With volleyball in the fall and basketball in the winter, Morrison said she has no idea what to do with all the free time in the spring. Last year, she found a job even though scrimmages and conditioning for her sports were still part of her daily life.

Despite nonexistent down time, Morrison says she wouldn’t have it any other way.

“I’ve had a great experience here,” she said. “I am really glad that I chose to play both.”
